Where do i fit... or do i?
With this 2d work i wanted to play with puzzle pieces without taking the puzzle away from the piece. I decided to start by just covering each piece up by painting it gold and then covering the pieces with colored tissue paper. Leaving one piece behind to rebel the others, it was painted with gold and silver tones. I wanted the puzzle to be incomplete, to not fit and for the viewer to be puzzled with why the one piece is different from all the rest. To try and figure the situation out. I am hoping i get the feedback i intend for, though i am still not completely satisfied with this work. Hoping for more inspiration with the 3d and 4d processes.

Your work is a great metaphor. Trying to fit in, not being complete, feeling "puzzled"... Don't we all have these feelings at different points in our lives ? The shapes of the individual pieces look like little characters with two heads perhaps symbolizing self-examination... I like the playful yet serious aspects of your exploration. ~ carol s.f.
ReplyDeleteYour puzzle concept I think has many possibilities as we talked about after class. I agree the 3D workshop is something I am anticipating to get hold of materials to inspire me!
